Z-Nummer (ZAPP) — Z-Nummer — export registration number in ZAPP

What it means: The number assigned after registering an export in Hamburg's ZAPP/EMP port system. Linking the Z-Nummer with the MRN and the container lets the port system report the exit to customs — without it the MRN will not close despite the physical departure.

What to do next: Check that your forwarder registered the MRN in ZAPP/EMP and obtained a Z-Nummer before gate-in. If the container sailed without registration — it can be registered and the MRN closed retroactively; we do this daily.
